title : Titanic 100th Anniversary

TITANIC , The Artifact exhibition
2012 marks the 100th anniversary of 'unsinkable ship', Titanic.
so decided to go and have a look before it ended.

The ticket cost $20 per entrance for Singaporeans & additional $5 for a documentary of Titanic,
produced by James Cameron about the real Titanic lying on the seabed (with a souvenir!)

over at the entrance, we will collect our 'boarding pass' which indicates the passenger i am and her story.

Construction Gallery
We will step back into the famed Harland and Wolff shipyard of the early 1900s amd relive the story of Titanic's conception, design and construction.

Its the area showing parts of Titanic such as nuts and bots etc amd show us the revolutionary ideas of white star line's idea of a luxury cruise ship.

Verandah Cafe
Stroll through this one-of-a-kind alfresco dining area and be immersed in the sounds of dining passengers and the ocean breeze.

Artifacts of cutlery, plates & bowls china for the different classes.

The Grand Staircase
Towering over 24 feet tall, this majestic beauty epitomizes the ship's elegance.

This is one of the 'shooting area' so i didnt went up the stairs unless we are taking the photo.
But, its sure nice to be standing outside and look through the magnificent of the grand staircase!

First Class Stateroom
With full scale re-creation, witness how First Class passengers enjoyed the most luxurious way to travel.

Can you imagine the ticket for First class which cost 2,500 in the pass cost about 100K now?
The bed, tables and the room - 1 look at it and you will know its worthwhile.

Third Class Quarters / Hallway
The Titanic also carried passengers looking for a better life. See how these passengers traveled onboard with this re-creation.

Third class ticket cost $40 in the past and around $900 today!
A very big difference from First Class!
4 bunks in a room and very near those engine rooms where the people will have to listen to these sounds
for the whole day and feeling the vibration of it.
But the bed makes it worthwhile!

Iceberg Gallery
An iceberg loomed out of the calm night on 14 April 1912, a precursor to the tragedy that would befall the Titanic. In this gallery, touch a real sheet of ice and experience the freezing waters of the North Atlantic.

Recounts of passengers was displayed all over the area. Description of how the sailors fail to spot the iceberg in time (without binoculars due to the rush of the sail) that causes the tragedy.

The iceberg was only one of the reason why many people die. The lack of life boats and passenger's confidence of Titanic renders them unable to escape or didnt want to escape.

A real ice really was displayed there and really can experience how cold it is!

Memorial Gallery
In memory of the passengers onboard the Titanic, this gallery provideds a listing of over 2,200 names of those who were lost and saved in the tragedy.

Personal items of some passengers were on display as well. Words on letters, documents could still be seen despite the age. One particular item stands out in my mind is the sample of perfumes a perfume make brought onboard which description says 'the aroma still so strong' (when found).

1,523 passengers died that night, some could not escape in time. And those who escape die of hypothermia due to the very cold waters. Only 700+ passengers makes it alive.

On the memorial board, out of 1,523 who die, 700+ were Titanic's crews. I rather think of them as heros who stick with the ship till the end. Hoping to rescue as much as they can as well as reducing the speed of sinking.

Lastly, my found my passengers name on the 'alive' list!

Ghosts of the Abyss
Join Academy Award winning director and master storyteller James Cameron as he journeys back to the site of his greatest inspiration - the legendary wreck of the Titanic.

This one documentary truly touch my heart. At the end of the show, i really felt like crying. Their hard work
in exploring the site and recreating it so that the future generation can know more about the ship.

Lastly we received a free souvenir (package with $5 ticket of watching the documentary) which is small badge of showing white star line logo. Its really worthwhile because the badge as we saw, was sold for $6 in the shop. >.<

This is one great exhibition and the best i have been to that i cannot wait to pour my feelings and what i learn and saw in the exhibition somewhere (which ultimately i decided will be my blog).

Thanks sista for accompanying me to the exhibition!!

Truly fantastic! (((:

PS: Finally get to try blueberry pancakes of KFC with sista today. ALOT nicer and tasty than the ones at Mcdonalds! (:
